Last updated May 31, 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Shalom App at www.shalom.app (the “Service”), operated by The Ancient Way (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Shalom App is a free, informational web application that displays the weekly Torah portion (the parsha), festival readings, the annual reading cycle, and related calendar information. The Service is provided for general informational, educational, and devotional reference only.

2. Not religious, legal, or professional advice

Reading schedules, dates, and related content are provided for convenience and may vary by community, tradition, custom, and local observance. The Service is not a substitute for guidance from your own congregation, rabbi, or religious authority, and it does not constitute legal, professional, or authoritative religious rulings. You are responsible for verifying dates and readings against the practice of your community.

3. License to use the Service

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use. We reserve all rights not expressly granted.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service in any unlawful manner or for any unlawful purpose, or in violation of these Terms;
  • Copy, reproduce, scrape, harvest, or redistribute substantial portions of the Service or its content except as permitted by Section 5;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to, interfere with, disrupt, or impose an unreasonable load on the Service or its infrastructure;
  • Introduce malware or any malicious or harmful code, or circumvent any security or access control;
  • Use the Service to infringe the intellectual property or other rights of any party, or to misrepresent your affiliation with us.

5. Intellectual property and attribution

Except for third-party content identified below, the Service and its original content, design, text, graphics, and arrangement are owned by The Ancient Way or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. The Shalom App name and related marks may not be used without our prior written permission.

6. Third-party links and services

The Service may link to or rely on third-party websites and services that we do not control. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third party, and links do not imply endorsement. Your use of third-party services is governed by their own terms.

7. Availability and changes

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service or any part of it at any time, with or without notice. We do not guarantee that the Service will be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or that defects will be corrected.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY AS TO THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR TIMELINESS OF READINGS, DATES, OR OTHER CONTENT. YOU USE THE SERVICE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE ANCIENT WAY AND ITS CONTRIBUTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, WHETHER BASED IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. BECAUSE THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100). SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Ancient Way and its contributors from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms or any applicable law.

11. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

12. Severability and waiver

If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of that right or provision.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
